Air curtain burner (Aci)
Woody Biomass Utilization with Air Curtain Burner (ACI) Technology
Utilizing the most proven method available today with the smallest ecological footprint
Valley Environmental uses an Air Curtain Burner (ACI) for the environmentally friendly disposal of wood and vegetative waste. Curtain Burners were designed principally as a pollution control device for open burning. We are one of the only DEQ and U.S. EPA 40CFR60 permitted and approved companies to operate this type of equipment. The advanced technology of the machine produces a highly clean burn at a fraction of the economic and environmental cost. It is designed for the disposal of forest slash, agricultural vegetative waste, land clearing debris, green waste, storm debris, invasive species, contraband and other combustible waste streams. This highly effective machine is the most environmentally friendly alternative to all other green waste processing methods.
Benefits of the Patented Machine:
Clean, fast burns
Residue is wood ash and Biochar - ideal to turn back into the soil
High mass reduction: 95% to 98% waste reduction
Environmentally friendly; exceeds EPA regulations for air curtain incinerators
No chipping or grinding, waste goes straight into machine
No Hydrocarbon fuel
Dramatically reduced costs compared to chipping, grinding and trucking

Here’s How It Works:
The technology of the air curtain burner simulates the natural burning of green waste, but without the high degree of pollution and at low cost. The primary objective of an air curtain machine is to reduce the particulate matter (PM), or smoke, which results from burning clean wood waste. Using a technology called "air curtain," the smoke particles are trapped and reburned, reducing them to an acceptable limit per U.S. EPA guidelines.
Clean wood waste is loaded into the FireBox, and an accelerant such as diesel fuel is used to ignite the wood waste, just as you would start a campfire or open burn pile. The air curtain is not engaged until the fire has grown in strength, or the air curtain may blow the fire out. Once the fire has reached suitable strength, usually in 15 to 20 minutes, the air curtain is engaged. The air curtain then runs at a steady state throughout the burn operation, and the waste wood is loaded at a rate consistent with the rate of burn.
